Description
This is a terrace of five houses located in Camden, built in the mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of stucco, with rusticated detailing to the ground floors. The design is symmetrical, with the corner houses (numbers 26 and 34) set back.
Each house originally had two windows on each floor, although number 26 includes an additional recessed entrance bay and number 34 has a later single-storey entrance extension. The doorways are topped with segmental arches, framed by stucco pilasters and cornices, which have decorative pediments with antefixae and acroteria. Cornices run across the facades as a band at the first-floor level, breaking forward above the ground-floor windows. The ground-floor sash windows are arched and have shallow pediments with antefixae, bracketed sills, and some retain cast-iron guards. Windows numbers 28-32 have tripartite sashes, each with enriched console brackets supporting cornices. The upper-floor windows are round-arched, recessed sashes (originally margin glazed), with architraved heads and vermiculated keystones, bracketed sills, and, at number 34, cast-iron window guards. Number 34 retains its original cornice and blocking course, whereas the other houses have a parapet and band.
The interiors of the houses have not been inspected.
Attached to the front of the terrace are cast-iron railings with urn finials.
