Description

Numbers 48, 50, and 52 are a terrace of three houses built around 1815-1821 by Thomas Cubitt. The houses are made of stucco and feature plain stucco first-floor sill bands. This terrace closes the vista at the north end of Ampton Place. Each house has four storeys and basements, with one window in slightly projecting bays. The ground floor has round-arched openings, doorways with panelled jambs, cornice-heads, fanlights, and panelled doors. The first-floor windows are four-light and have cast-iron verandahs with tented hoods and patterned wooden fringes. The second-floor windows are segmental arched and include cast-iron window guards. The third floor has individual cornices on the projecting bays only, with recessed sashes and parapets that were formerly scrolled. The terrace is complemented by attached cast-iron railings with urn finials. The interiors have not been inspected.
