Description
Numbers 4, 5, and 6 are a terrace of three houses built around 1845-1847, possibly by William Cubitt. They are constructed from yellow stock brick with stucco ground floors and first-floor sill bands. The terrace is four storeys high and includes basements. The facade, which includes No. 31 Frederick Street as the end house, alternates between two windows for Nos. 4 and 6 and one window for No. 5, with slightly projecting single window bays. Each house features square-headed doorways with panelled jambs, cornice-heads, fanlights, and panelled doors. No. 5 has gauged brick segmental arches above all its windows, while Nos. 4 and 6 have them only on the ground floors. The upper floors have gauged brick flat arches, and there is a stucco cornice at the third-floor level, topped by a parapet. The terrace also includes attached cast-iron railings with bud finials to the areas in front of the houses. The interiors have not been inspected.
