Numbers 53 And 55 And Attached Railings

Numbers 53 and 55 are two terraced houses that form the projecting end of a terrace, built around 1835 to 1844. They are constructed of yellow stock brick, with some later patching, and feature rusticated stucco ground floors along with plain sill bands on the first floor. The buildings rise three storeys and include basements, with two windows each. The ground floor has round-arched openings, and the doorways are adorned with fluted quarter columns, radial patterned fanlights, and panelled doors. The ground floor sashes have margin glazing, while the upper floor sashes are topped with gauged brick flat arches and cast-iron balconies on the first floor. The buildings also have parapets. The interiors have not been inspected. Additionally, there are attached cast-iron railings to the areas in front of the houses.
