Description

A grand terrace of houses dating to around 1825, forming part of a development laid out and largely designed by Thomas and Lewis Cubitt. The terrace is constructed of stucco with slate mansard roofs. The central three houses and the end pairs are set forward slightly, featuring a giant pilaster order that rises through the first and second floors. Each house has a three-window front, with three storeys, an attic, a mansard attic, and a basement. The ground floor is channelled. Most houses have projecting Greek Doric porches, with segmental entrances and semi-circular ground floor windows set in semi-circular reveals. A continuous cast iron balcony runs across the first floor. The windows are sash windows with plate glass, and first-floor windows are French casements. There is a cornice above the second floor, and a subsidiary cornice above the third floor. Cast iron spearhead area railings are present. The returns are architecturally treated.
