Description
This building, at numbers 22, 22A, 22B and 22D Ebury Street, was originally a dwelling and later served as the Pimlico Literary Institute. It was constructed around 1830 by J. P. Gandy-Deering.
The building is constructed of stucco, with the roof not visible from street level. It presents five bays, with two or three storeys. A central three-bay Greek Doric portico is recessed ('in antis'), featuring a triglyph frieze. Twin, pedimented entrances are flanked by projecting portals. The outer bay on each side is taller, with rusticated detailing to the ground floor and tripartite windows to both the ground and first floor. The first-floor windows are pedimented, and all windows are square-headed. A cornice is positioned above the second floor. A plaque with a Latin inscription sits above the central entrance.
