Description

Numbers 1, 2, and 3 Belgrave Place are a group of three terraced houses built around 1846 by Thomas Cubitt. They are part of a significant group of buildings in Belgrave Place. The houses are constructed with brick in Flemish bond, with the ground floor and dressings finished in stucco. They have a parapeted roof. Each house has three storeys over a basement and features two windows on each main elevation. The ground-floor openings are round arched, while the upper-floor windows are flat arched. Steps lead to the entrances, which have original glazing-bar overlights and studded doors. The ground floor is treated as rustication, with voussoirs over the round-arched openings. Cast-iron brackets and railings run continuously across the first-floor balconies of all three units. The first-floor French doors have architraves and cornices, with original 3 x 3 glazing bars and a 2-pane transom. Second-floor windows have architraves and projecting sills, with a continuous cornice across all three units. Railings are also present to the stairs and areas. A stack serves as the party wall between numbers 2 and 3. The interior has not been inspected.
