Description

Numbers 9-15 on Dombey Street are a row of seven terraced houses built between 1766 and 1773, possibly by G Travell. The houses are constructed of multi-coloured stock brick, with numbers 13, 14, and 15 featuring a stucco ground floor and a band above. Number 13 has been refronted above the first floor level. The buildings have slate roofs and rise to four storeys with basements, each house typically having two windows, although number 13 includes an additional window above the entrance to Harpur Mews.

The doorways are square-headed with wooden doorcases that have panelled reveals, enriched consoles supporting a dentil cornice, and pedimented cornices. The fanlights above the doors are patterned for numbers 9, 11, and 12, and the doors themselves are panelled. The recessed sash windows, most of which retain their original glazing bars, are topped with gauged red brick flat arches. The parapets and upper floors have been repaired in yellow stock brick.

Inside, the interiors were altered in the early 19th century, except for the panelled first-floor room in number 13. The rear elevation features segmental-arched windows with flush frames and exposed boxing. Additionally, there are attached cast-iron railings with torch flambe finials surrounding the areas in front of the houses.
