Description
No. 51 Lamb's Conduit Street is a terraced house with a later shop, dating from around 1700 to 1715, and was refronted around 1779. The building is constructed of yellow stock brick and has four storeys and cellars, featuring three windows. The early 19th-century wooden double shopfront is notable for its Greek Doric attached columns that support an entablature with an enriched architrave, an inswept frieze, and a projecting ovolo cornice. There is a central entrance, and while the shop windows have been altered, they include panelled stallboards. To the right of the shopfront is the house doorway, which has a fanlight and a panelled door. The recessed sashes have gauged brick flat arches and early glazing bars. The building is topped with a parapet and has a lead rainwater head and pipe. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to retain some early 18th-century panelling and a staircase with twisted balusters and carved brackets on the treads.
