Description
Number 43 is a terraced house located on Lamb's Conduit Street, dating from around 1700 to 1715, with some alterations. It features darkened multi-coloured stock brick with red brick dressings, and the third floor has been refaced. The ground floor is rusticated stucco. Originally, this building consisted of two houses, each with two windows. It stands four storeys tall and has cellars.
The left entrance has a wooden doorcase with pilasters that support a bracketed cornice, a patterned radial fanlight, and a panelled door, which is accessed by two steps and flanked by cast-iron railings topped with urn finials. The right entrance has been modified for use as a shop entrance, featuring a plain wood surround with a cornice, a fanlight, and double doors.
There is a stucco sill string at the first floor, and the recessed sash windows have gauged red brick flat arches, with the first-floor windows having blind boxes. A red brick band is present at the second floor level, and there is a parapet above. The original lead rainwater head and pipe are still in place. The interior has not been inspected.
