Description
Rymer Farm Cottages is a pair of estate cottages built in the mid-19th century. The cottages are two storeys tall and have a half-H plan, featuring a central range flanked by two gabled cross-wings. The construction includes flint and brick, with rusticated quoins and a glazed double Roman tiled roof. The front and side walls display alternating panels of kidney flints and rusticated red brick, with a decorative diaper pattern made from blue headers.
The central range has a gablet adorned with ornamental barge-boards, which contains a two-light casement window with a cambered head. There is a monopitch single-storey open porch supported on posts, leading to two plank doors. Each matching cross-wing features ornamental barge-boards and an internal chimney stack with a rectangular shaft that is corbelled out at the head and topped with a dentil cornice. The cottages have three-light mullion-and-transom type windows set into the brick panels on the fronts, along with two cross windows positioned in the ground storey brick panels on the side walls.
