Description
Danes Cottages is a pair of estate cottages built in the mid-19th century. The cottages are constructed of cob and are plastered, topped with a half-hipped thatched roof. They are two storeys high and have a symmetrical front. A large central brick chimney stack is prominent, with a smaller brick stack located at the rear. The front features a two-window range, with the upper windows consisting of three lights beneath eyebrow eaves. Notably, two of the lights in the upper windows of No. 4 have latticed leaded panes. There are two gabled porches with slate roofs, each containing a four-centred arch doorway. These porches are connected by a slated pentice that has two three-light windows and a central recess under a slate roof canopy. At the rear, there is a brick wing added in the 20th century, which includes a three-light window at each end. All windows are timber casements with three panes per light.
