Description
Bray Cottage is a pair of cottages that have been converted into a single dwelling, dating from around 1845. The structure is made of cob, which is rendered and colour-washed, and features a thatched roof with brick chimney stacks. Each cottage has two bays and a set-back lean-to at each end, standing at one and a half storeys high. The left cottage has a door located in a rendered thatched porch at its centre, while the right cottage does not have a door. The central bays of both cottages contain two-light casement windows on each floor, with an eyebrow dormer above the upper window. The outer bays feature small irregular windows. The roof has swept down hips and a ridge piece, with a large central ridge stack and an additional stack at the left end of the ridge. The cottages were built by the Church Commissioners for the labourers of their Wonston Manor Farm.
