Description
Horswell is a cottage dating from the late 17th century or 18th century. It is constructed of cob with a stone plinth and has a rendered finish beneath a half-hipped thatched roof. The building is two storeys high and features an asymmetrical front with three windows and an axial stack located to the right of centre. There is a weatherboarded and tiled porch, with a three-light 20th-century timber casement window on either side. Above the porch, there are three-light timber casement windows under boarded eyebrow eaves, each containing eight leaded panes (these were about to be dismantled at the time of the resurvey visit in 1984). At the rear, there is an outshut beneath a catslide thatched roof. The interior was not inspected, but one substantial roof truss is just visible.
