Description

Orchard Cottage is a late 17th-century cottage with a 20th-century extension to the left. It is constructed of cob with a stone plinth, rendered, and has a thatched roof, half-hipped to the left and gabled to the right. There are two end stacks. The cottage is two storeys high. The front has a two-window range; the upper windows are 2-light timber casements set under gables of unequal size. On the ground floor are two doors and two 2-light windows. The rear features a 20th-century lean-to extension. One 2-light timber casement window with leaded panes is visible at ground floor, and a small single-light window is set at eaves level. The interior of the original left-hand room shows two deeply chamfered beams and a large end fireplace. A screen separates this room from the right-hand room, with an arched bressumer over the doorway.
