Description
Nos. 3, 4, and 5 Queen's Square are a row of cottages dating from the 17th century. They are constructed of cob with a stone plinth, rendered, and feature a gabled-end thatched roof. The cottages are two storeys high and have a regular arrangement of five windows. All upper windows consist of two lights with six panes each, positioned under eyebrow eaves. On the ground floor, there are three doorways and three two-light windows, all of which are timber casements from the late 19th or 20th century. The cottages have two end stacks with brick shafts, one of which is external on the left side, and there is a rear external lateral stack for number 4, along with a rear lean-to. The roof has largely been reconstructed in the 20th century but retains parts of the 18th-century roof, including halved slender principals and double collars. Although the first-floor window heads appear to have been raised, the ground floor openings maintain their original scale. These cottages are included for their group value.
