BURY ST EDMUNDS BUTTERMARKET (East side) Nos.20 AND 21A

GV II

Shop and offices, formerly shop and house. Early C19 with older fragments. White brick front with a parapet and modillion cornice; slate roof. 3 storeys. 4 window range, all small-paned sashes in plain reveals with stone sills. The 1st storey windows have cast-iron balconies with honeysuckle ornament. A raised brick band between the 1st and 2nd storeys. INTERIOR: with most original features concealed. On the top storey the slope of the original roof can be seen on the north side, and a C19 brick wall, laid in English Bond, on the south. This has been faced with C20 fletton bricks on the outside.
