Description

Nos. 16, 16A, and 17 Buttermarket is a row of shops with living accommodation above, built in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of white brick and has a slate roof with a plain eaves soffit. It stands three storeys tall with a basement that is now part of the shops, located on a corner site. The façade features a five-window range, with 12-pane sash windows on the second storey set in deep reveals, complete with flat gauged arches and projecting stone sills. On the first storey, the three sash windows of No. 17 have been replaced and now feature only two cross bars. The ground storey has 20th-century shop windows.
