Description

No. 6 The Traverse is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the 18th century. It features a timber frame that is rendered, topped with a parapet and a moulded stucco cornice, and has a slate roof. The building stands three storeys high and has three windows across its front. The first storey has 15-pane 20th-century sash windows, while the second storey has 12-pane sash windows, all set in flush cased frames. The ground storey features a 20th-century shop front designed in a traditional style. At the rear, facing Skinner Street, the elevation has been rebuilt in red brick, with small-paned sash windows that are irregularly spaced and a rounded brick arch above the doorway.
