Description
12 and 13 Buttermarket are two adjacent buildings that have been combined into one large shop. They date from the 17th century and feature timber framing with a rendered finish and slate roofs, along with paired modillion eaves soffits. The exterior has three storeys. No. 12 has a four-window arrangement, with small-paned sashes in flush cased frames on the second storey, and long two-light casements with a single horizontal bar and stucco architraves with cornices on the first storey. The ground storey has a 20th-century shop front. No. 13 has a three-window range with six-pane sashes on the second storey and a four-window range of sashes with a single vertical bar on the first storey, all in flush cased frames. It also features a 20th-century shop front on the ground storey. Although there are no notable features visible inside, both buildings contribute to the townscape. They were previously listed separately.
