Description

RATTLESDEN STOWMARKET ROAD TL 95 NE 3/116 Dawes Farmhouse - - II Former farmhouse, probably early C17. 3-cell lobby-entrance plan. 2 storeys and attics. Timber-framed and plastered. Hipped plaintiled roof; one gabled casement dormer with a moulded tie beam and cusped C19 bargeboards. An axial chimney of narrow C17 pink/buff bricks, rebuilt above plinth level in C20 red brick. 2- and 3-light casements with leaded lights, and some with casements; of C18 form but most or all renewed in late C19/early C20. Late C19 gabled plaintiled porch at lobby entrance position, with arched framed and boarded door. Interior not examined.
