Description

This barn, located 30 meters southeast of Hill Farmhouse, dates from the mid-16th century and has undergone alterations mainly around 1800. Originally consisting of three bays, it was extended by one bay to the south during the 1800s. The structure is timber-framed and weatherboarded, with a pantiled roof that was once thatched. The wall framing originally featured widely spaced studding and long reversed arch windbracing at the corners, though this has been significantly altered. The roof is supported by coupled rafters, with the original collars removed and replaced by purlins, likely in the 17th century. A gabled porch, also pantiled, was added to the center bay on the east side in the 17th century.
