Description

FRAMSDEN MILL HILL TM 15 NE 4/39 Barn 30m south-east of Hill Farmhouse - GV II

Barn, mid C16 with alterations mainly of c.1800. Originally of 3 bays, extended to the south in c.1800 by one bay. Timber-framed and weatherboarded. Pantiled roof once thatched. Wall-framing was originally of widely-spaced studding with long reversed arch windbracing at corners, now much altered. Coupled-rafter roof; the collars were removed and replaced by purlins probably in C17. A C17 porch, gabled and pantiled, was added to the centre bay, eastside.
