Description
This barn, located 40 meters west of Hill House, dates from the 16th and 17th centuries. It is timber framed, with part of the exterior covered in weatherboarding and the upper walls plastered. The roof is made of corrugated iron sheeting. The structure consists of two main sections: to the east is a 16th-century three-bay range, which has an additional shorter bay at the eastern end, likely used for stables. To the west, at a slight angle and separated by the 16th-century end wall, is a four-bay range from the early 17th century. The framing in both sections remains largely intact, featuring a queen-post roof in the 16th-century range and one row of clasped purlins in the four-bay addition. The entire south wall has been later infilled with brick between the studs.
