Description
Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse, probably from the 16th century, that stands two storeys tall. It has a three-cell plan with a lobby entrance and an early or original wing at the rear right. The building is timber-framed and plastered, topped with a plaintiled roof featuring a 16th or early 17th century axial chimney made of red brick. There are additional red brick chimneys to the left and rear. The windows are mainly mid-20th century casements, with some early 19th or 18th century casements still intact. A 19th century gabled pantiled entrance porch leads to a half-glazed, four-panelled 20th century door. Inside, there is a late 16th or early 17th century wall painting depicting a female figure holding a key, set against a landscape background. The word "UXOR" to the left suggests that this figure may be part of a pair.
