Description
Estate Cottages, numbers 105 and 106, are a pair of cottages built around 1840, possibly designed by Anthony Salvin, who was active at Helmingham Hall around 1841. The cottages are constructed of brick in Flemish bond and feature a moulded brick stack on the party wall. They have pantile roofs with vergeboards, some of which are ornamented, and slightly swept eaves. The cottages are single storey with half dormers and an outshut at the rear. The outer ranges have four-centre arches, while there is a single range on the inside flanking the party wall. Their picturesque style combines vernacular forms with elements of the 'cottage orne' tradition. Cottages 97-110, which span the boundary between Framsden and Helmingham, form a cohesive group.
