Description
Farm Cottage, located 110 meters south of Three Ponds, is a farmhouse dating from the first half of the 17th century. It features a timber frame that is plastered and topped with a thatched roof. The building has two storeys and a three-cell layout. The windows are primarily large-paned casements from the mid-20th century, although there are some older windows on the first floor at both the front and rear. The entrance has a 20th-century three-panelled door. Inside, there is an internal stack and a thatched lean-to addition against the right gable end. The interior remains largely unmodernised, with studding that is either concealed or limewashed, and reverse-curved wall braces. There are some blocked original windows or evidence of them, featuring diamond and chamfered mullions. Both the hall and parlour contain axial bridging beams and widely spaced plain joists that are set flat. A tie beam between the hall and service chambers has a pronounced curve, and there is a newel stair with some original treads.
