Description
Yew Tree Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century with alterations from the 17th century. It is timber framed and plastered, topped with a thatched roof, and consists of one and a half storeys in a three-cell layout. The building features various casement windows, primarily from the 18th and 19th centuries, along with two 20th-century doors. There are two gabled dormers with plain tiled surrounds and an internal stack with a small shaft.
To the left, there is a small addition that is also plastered and thatched, which includes a four-light mullion and transom window without glazing bars. A lean-to addition is present on the right gable end. The ground floor ceiling shows signs of alteration, likely due to changes in heating arrangements. A low cross-beam in the hall may indicate a former smoke bay. The end bay of the parlour is a 17th-century addition, featuring evidence of studding and a diamond-mullioned window at the old end. The roof is of queen-post construction, and there is a newel stair from the 18th or 19th century. The interior has not been fully examined.
