ELLESMERE RURAL C.P. LYNEAL Rose Cottage

II

Farmhouse, latterly divided into cottages, now house. Early to mid-C17 with later additions and alterations. Timber framed with red brick infill painted to front; straw thatch roof. One storey and attic; apparently in 3 or 4 framed bays, formerly with central baffle entry. Framing: slightly irregular square and rectangular panels, 2 and 3 from cill to wall-plate, square panels to right and rectangular panels to left. Short straight braces from wall posts to tie beam to left gable end, which has queen-strut truss; V-struts from collar to right gable end. Four C19 casements in panels of framing all except that to centre (probably in position of former entrance) with cast-iron latticed lights. Boarded doors to left and right with raking eaves dormer immediately to left of latter. Red brick stack directly behind ridge to centre. Interior. Not inspected but likely to be of interest.
