Description
The Hollies is a cottage dating from the mid-17th century, with some minor later alterations. It features a timber frame with painted brick infill and a straw thatch roof. The building has a two-cell central baffle-entry plan and stands two storeys high. The framing consists of square and rectangular panels, with three panels extending from the cill to the wall-plate, supported by short straight braces from the wall posts to the wall-plate and tie beams. The end trusses have queen struts with V-struts from the collars, which have been renewed above, including the tie beam on the left gable end. There are 19th-century casement windows on the far left and right of a roughly central boarded door, with another window located directly below the eaves to the right of centre. An axial red brick ridge stack with a moulded capping is present, along with a 19th-century painted brick lean-to at the rear. Inside, the ground-floor rooms feature chamfered ceiling beams.
