Description
This is a mid-19th century terrace of stucco-faced houses, numbered 17 to 27, Fonnereau Road. The design is similar to numbers 5 to 15 on the same road, but with more elaborate detailing and a parapet. The terrace is three storeys high with basements. Each house has a two-window front, featuring double-hung sash windows with glazing bars in plain reveals. The section of each front containing the doorway and a window above projects slightly. Doorways and windows have segmental arched heads, recessed within stuccoed panels. The alternate window ranges on the ground and first storeys have moulded stucco architraves and cornices. The six-panel doors each have a segmental headed fanlight above and are approached by side steps. On the second storey, windows alternate with recessed panels. Moulded stucco stringcourses run horizontally between the storeys. Numbers 5 to 27 form a group with Bethesda Baptist Church and numbers 9 and 11, St Margaret’s Plain.
