Description

This is a cast iron milestone located on Woodbridge Road outside number 325. It was cast by J Garrett in 1818. The upper surface is inscribed with "Ipswich to London 70," while the splayed sides feature inscriptions for "Yarmouth 53," "Woodbridge 6," and "St Marg't P. Colchester 19." This milestone is part of a series that were set up by the Ipswich Southtown (Great Yarmouth) Turnpike Trust as facings to earlier stones.
