Description

Milestone 68, located outside number 142 on London Road, is a cast iron milestone that was made by J. Garrett in 1831. The top of the milestone is inscribed with "Ipswich to London 68," while the angled sides display "Ipswich Woodbridge 8" and "Colchester 17 Chelmsford 39." This milestone is part of a series that was established as facings to earlier stones by the Ipswich Southtown (Great Yarmouth) Turnpike Trust.
