LONDON ROAD 1. 5379 (North Side) Milestone 68 outside No 142 TM 1544 5/432 II

A cast iron milestone cast by J, Garrett in 1831. It is inscribed "Ipswich to London 68" on the upper surface and on the splayed sides "Ipswich Woodbridge 8" and "Colchester 17 Chelmsford 39". It is 1 of a series of milestones set up as facings to earlier stones by the Ipswich Southtown (Gt Yarmouth) Turnpike Trust.
