Description
Firbank is a house built in 1854, constructed from red brick with white-brick dressings and topped with slate roofs. It stands two storeys high, with the west front featuring a three-window range. The windows are 6/6 unhorned sashes set within projecting architraves, and the outer two windows are adorned with small gables on the roof. A central stone porch showcases elaborate low-relief decorative carving. The south front includes two canted window bays fitted with 1/1 sashes. The north front facing the street displays two gables, each containing a 6/6 unhorned sash window on both floors, also set within projecting architraves, and features a simple doorway. The gabled roofs are punctuated by low chimneystacks at intervals. At the north-east corner, stables have been converted for garage use, connecting to the house. Inside, there is a staircase with cast-iron balusters and a ramped and wreathed timber handrail, along with four-panelled internal doors. The rear hall features a plaster ceiling with a geometric pattern.
