Description
The Girls Friendly Society Hostel, located at 1260 Burlington Road, is a building originally constructed as a terrace of early to mid 19th century grey gault brick houses. It is two storeys high and features a seven-window range on Burlington Road, along with a narrow splayed corner that has one window range and a three-window range on London Road. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars set in plain reveals. A brick band runs between the storeys, and the front of the building is enhanced with pilaster treatment. The doorway is topped with a semi-circular headed fanlight, and the roof is covered with slate. This building is listed as grade II due to its group value with the nearby Sunday School to the southwest, and it forms part of a group with No 2 (Girls Friendly Society Hostel) and the Burlington Baptist Church Hall.
