Description
34 St Mary's Street is an early 19th century house built from gault brick. It has two storeys and features a three-window range of double-hung sash windows with glazing bars set in plain reveals. The ground floor includes one 20th-century window designed in a 19th-century style. A central doorway is framed by rebated brick reveals and topped with an elliptical arched head that includes a fanlight. The roof is tiled, dating from the 20th century.
This building is part of a group that includes Nos 20, 22, 22A, 24 to 30 (even), 36, 36A, 38, and 40 to 60 (even) on St Mary's Street, as well as Nos 13 to 29 (odd) and 29A, Parson's Almshouses, and Nos 1 to 5 (odd) on Downham Road. It also forms a group with No 20 Church Lane and the Parish Church of St Mary.
