Description
A range of early 19th century gault brick houses, built around 1850, located at 36 and 36A St Mary's Street and 38 Downham Road. The buildings are two storeys high and feature a six-window range with double-hung sash windows in flush eased frames. The houses at 36 and 36A have glazing bars, while No 38 has a four-panel door with a wooden doorcase that includes reeded pilasters and a cornice. The roofs are covered with Old Cambridgeshire tiles. This group of houses, which includes Nos 20, 22, 22A, 24 to 30 (even), 34, 36, 36A, 38, and 40 to 60 (even), forms a cohesive architectural group with Nos 13 to 29 (odd) and 29A, Parson's Almshouses, and Nos 1 to 5 (odd) Downham Road. Additionally, this group connects with No 20 Church Lane and the Parish Church of St Mary.
