Description

A pair of houses and shops dating to circa 1840, located on High Street, Saxmundham. The buildings are constructed of gault brick, with a slate hipped roof and a central brick stack. The exterior presents two storeys, with a two-window front to each house, accented by pilaster strips to the outer angles. A central arched passageway entrance is fitted with a plank door. The first floor features two sashes in each property, possessing 3/6 glazing bars and elongated horns. Number 30 retains sliding sashes concealed behind a shop display window. Later shop fronts were added in the 19th century to Number 30 and in the early 20th century to Number 28.
