Description

These are a pair of houses dating from around 1830. They are two storeys plus an attic, built of brick. Number 1 has been painted and features stone sills, stone lintels shaped like brick flat arches, and a stone coping to the parapet. The roof is tiled and hipped to the right, with two brick ridge chimneys. The buildings have one window bay on each side, flanking a blind panel with a lintel. The windows are sash windows with small panes of glass; the second-floor windows are single-hung, while the first-floor windows in Number 2 are casements. The shop fronts were added in the late 19th century: Number 1 has four narrow pilaster strips with reeded detailing framing two windows and a central glazed door, and Number 2 incorporates Doric pilaster strips in a similar arrangement. A conical lead rainwater hopper is visible on Number 1.
