Description
No. 33 High Street, which includes Nos. 1 and 3 Market Place, is a house that has been converted into a bank and offices. It dates from the early 19th century and underwent conversion and alterations in the early 20th century. The building is constructed of gault brick with a stone-faced ground floor and features a slate hipped roof with two stacks on the rear slope.
The exterior is three stories high with a three-window front. It has central double-leaf doors flanked by three-light windows that have glazing bars, all framed by four shallow pilasters. The window aprons have panels, and there are cartouches at the corners labeled Lloyds Bank. On the first floor, there are three 8/8 unhorned sash windows under gauged skewback arches, with the window to the right having its glazing bars reduced to 8/2. The second floor features three 4/4 sash windows, also under gauged skewback arches. The left side of the building facing Market Place has a single window with sashes matching those on the upper floors. The interior has not been inspected.
