Description
No. 8 Market Place is a pair of houses that have been converted into one shop, dating from the mid-17th century, with alterations made in the early 20th century. The building is timber-framed, plastered, and colourwashed, with part of the rear rebuilt in brick. The roof features black-glazed pantiles at the front and red pantiles at the rear.
The exterior has a two-storey front with three windows. The ground floor has modern plate-glass shop display windows, while the first floor features three unhorned sash windows. The roof has a bell shape. The rear of the building consists of two parts, with the left part jettied and having 20th-century windows and a door.
Inside, the ground floor has been opened up, and the first floor includes a chamfered bridging beam. The floor has been raised, and the roof is boarded.
