Description

39 High Street is a house and shop built in the mid-19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of gault brick, which has been painted on the front, and features a slate hipped roof with the stack removed.

The exterior consists of a two-storey front with three windows. On the ground floor, there are round-headed doorways on both the left and right sides, with the left-hand door set within a reeded doorcase. The left door has six panels, with the upper four being glazed and dating from the late 20th century, while the right-hand door is covered with plywood. Between the doors is a mid-19th century bowed shop display window that includes glazing bars, and to the right of this window is a 6/6 unhorned sash that has been converted into a display case. On the first floor, there are three 6/6 unhorned sashes, although the centre sash has been painted over.

Inside, the space has been opened up for retail showroom purposes in the late 20th century. There is one chamfered bridging beam on the ground floor, and the roof has been plastered over.
