Description
No. 6 Cross Street is a house and shop built around 1840, with a later 20th-century addition at the rear. The building is constructed from gault brick and has a slate roof, featuring a rectangular plan and three storeys.
The east-facing front elevation includes a ground floor shop with an early 19th-century bow window, flanked by fluted pilasters, though the entire shopfront has been restored in the 20th century. The window has glazing bars and large panes measuring 4 by 2. Next to the shop is a doorway with a fully glazed door from the 20th century. Above, there are two windows, which are horned sashes with good voussoirs, glazing bars, and panes measuring 4 by 4, along with deep wooden eaves.
The west-facing rear elevation is partly obscured, but all walls have been rendered in the 20th century, including a two-storey addition. There are two 20th-century two-light casement windows located below the eaves of the original 19th-century block.
