Description

This is a house with a shop, dating to around 1830, though with earlier origins in the 17th century. An early 20th-century shop front was added. The building is constructed of gault brick with a slate roof and an external brick stack to the right gable.

The exterior has a three-story, two-window front. There is a projecting plate-glass shop front with a central entrance. To the left of the shop front is a window that was formerly a doorway, now converted into a display window. The first and second floors each have two 2/2 sashes, with horned glazing, set within rendered skewback arches.

The interior has been opened up into a retail showroom. A late 17th-century chamfered bridging beam remains in the front ground-floor room. Many mid-19th century Continental wooden furnishings were introduced in the late 1940s. At the rear is a cupboard surround featuring gadrooned edging and fragments of a swan-necked pediment. In the front room, there is a pair of aedicules with Ionic capitals and intricate carved decoration.
