Description
This barn, located 40 meters northeast of Craven's Manor, dates back to the 17th century and has undergone various later additions. It features a timber frame that is clad in tarred weatherboarding, with a roof covered in tarred corrugated iron sheeting. Originally, it was a five-bay structure, although most of the south bay is missing, and the gable end at this location is from the 18th century. The barn has a well-preserved frame that includes a middle rail and long arched-braces supporting the open trusses, although two of these have been replaced by knee braces. At the south end, there are two trusses positioned together, likely due to the failure of the original tie beam. The roof structure includes clasped and butt purlins with arched wind-bracing in between.
