Description
This barn, located about 20 yards north of Lane Farmhouse, dates back to around 1400 and has been altered in the 17th century and late 20th century. It features a timber frame set on a rubble base, with weatherboarding and corrugated metal cladding, along with some breeze block walling. The roof is a combination of stone tiles and corrugated metal. The barn consists of three framed bays arranged roughly in a north-south direction, with a central wagon bay that has cart entries on opposite sides; the east side is blocked, while the west side has a 20th-century metal door. Inside, the barn is partly cruck-framed, featuring two full cruck trusses with collars on either side of the wagon bay. The north end includes an upper cruck, and the probable former cruck at the south end has been replaced by framing from the 17th century or later. The roof is supported by two tiers of purlins.
