Description
Sheepfold is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century that was restored between 1962 and 1963. It has an L-shaped plan with a service wing at the rear. The building is timber-framed and plastered, topped with modern concrete pantiles. It stands two storeys high with an attic and features a three-window range with mid-20th century small pane casements. The central doorway is framed by a mid-20th century gabled porch with a half-glazed door. Inside the porch, there is an early 19th century doorway with a six-panel door, where the upper panels are glazed, along with pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice. The house has two mid-20th century gabled dormers.
To the left side, the original red brick parapet gable end is symmetrical and includes a pair of original moulded mullion windows at both the ground and first floor levels, with modern attic windows in the original openings. The windows have splayed reveals and hood moulds above the ground and first floor openings. The eaves are corbelled, and there is an integral stack with flues arranged in a sawtooth pattern, topped with oversailing moulded caps. Inside, the house features exposed timbering, early 19th century stairs on the first floor, original attic stairs, and some original doors and panelling.
