Description
Valley Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with a 19th-century wing added to the rear. It features a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a pantiled roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, arranged in a three-cell form with a lobby entrance. There are three windows, which are large-paned casements from the mid-20th century. A mid-19th-century two-storey porch is present, which is plastered and has rusticated quoins and a crenellated parapet. The entrance includes a mid-20th-century six-panel door set within a re-used doorcase that has been adapted to fit; this doorcase features fluted pilasters, an entablature with a convex frieze, and a modillion cornice. Inside, there is a notable tall internal stack with four hexagonal flues arranged in a sawtooth pattern. The hall and parlour areas showcase exposed joists and ovolo-moulded floor beams, which have double stop-chamfers and moulded soffits.
