Description
Willingham Hall is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, likely built in two phases, with a later service wing added to the rear. The structure is timber framed and has modern render. The front slope of the roof is covered with slates, featuring courses of fishscale slates in two patterns, while the rear slope is pantiled. The building has two storeys and an attic, arranged in a three-cell form. Mid-20th century casement windows are present, along with a 19th-century entrance porch that has pierced scalloped bargeboards, a four-panel door, and an elliptical fanlight, with Y-traceried windows on the sides.
Inside, there is an internal stack with four flues arranged in a sawtooth pattern, with the upper section rebuilt; at the base of the flues, there are remains of projecting bricks shaped like horses' heads. The hall and the chamber above feature ovolo-moulded bridging beams and a similarly moulded cornice at each end of the room. The chamber over the service end has an ovolo-moulded cross-beamed ceiling. Some studding is exposed at the service end, indicating it may be a slightly later addition.
