Description

Nos 1 and 2 Hither House are a house, now divided into two dwellings, dating to the 17th and 18th centuries. The building is timber-framed and originally plastered, with a red plain tiled roof and a central chimneystack of red brick. It is two storeys high with attics, and has a four-window front. The upper floor features casement windows with margins, while the ground floor has a tripartite small-paned vertically sliding sash window to the left and a three-light casement to the right. There are gabled porches on both ends, with partly glazed doors. The interior features back-to-back fireplaces, now with 20th-century surrounds, and chamfered bridging joists. The roof structure is a pegged side purlin roof.
