Description
Garden Cottage with Garden Wall is a former gardener's cottage that is attached to and built at the same time as the walled garden, dating from around 1790. It is likely associated with Sir John Soane. The cottage is constructed of red brick and features a pan-tiled roof. It has two storeys and three bays of sash windows with glazing bars, which are set beneath skewback arches on the ground floor. The central front door has raised and fielded panels and is also beneath a skewback arch. The roof is hipped with projecting eaves, and there are two stacks at the rear. The garden walls are tall and topped with flat stone coping. There is an entrance in the west wall that has a segmental arch above a planked door with moulded cover strips.
